Around 17 races are designated club events. These are bolded in the Race Calendar. This doesn’t mean we put them on, although we do put on one each year, the Tinsel Run.

The other races are selected because of their great track record or because they’re especially popular with our runners. Consideration is given to providing a variety of distances and in a variety of locations.

Most are races we do every year, but there is some variability from year to year.

At minimum, we look for events with

• Awards three deep in five-year age categories (through 80+)

• Unique award medals

• Professional timing

• Unique finisher medals

• Tradition of accurately marked distance

• Tradition of well-marked course with adequate course marshals

• Well-stocked aid stations with enough volunteers

• Plenty of port-a-potties

• Good post race parties

• Race dates that work with other races we’re already committed to doing

***Creative medals and great shirt artwork are a big plus.
