Karen coaches the Thursday night Track Workout for Run Tampa intermediate and advanced runners at Coleman Middle School, and she provides Personalized Coaching to a small group of our most highly motivated runners.
Karen has completed 59 marathons, including Chicago, New York, and Marine Corps, as well as Boston several times. Additionally, she has finished 15 full Ironman triathlons and has a passion for multi-sport events as a way to stay fit, strong, and prevent injuries common in long distance runners.
In 2004, Karen began her coaching career with Rogue Training Systems in Austin, Texas. The same year, as part of the first training class of certified instructors, Karen became a certified ChiRunning® Instructor, teaching running biomechanics from 2004-2017, and in 2014, earning USAT (triathlon) and swimming certifications.
Karen’s passion is for helping others not only train for long distance races, including half marathons, marathons, ultras, and Ironman events, but also helping people understand that how they run and train matters as much as how much they run and train.
As a graduate of the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin and licensed acupuncture physician, specializing in sports medicine, Karen applies both her running experience and medical training to help injured runners and guide them in how to avoid injury.
Karen thrives on helping others reach their goals, whether running a first marathon or Ironman, improving performance and speed, or helping recreational runners to a healthy happy life.
