The link to the spreadsheet is here, and the link to order your medal will be added in a few days.
The medal, pictured here, including shipping, will be $9.50. All medals will be shipped.
Time frame: August 1 through midnight August 31st.
Run or hike a total of 100 miles.
15 of those miles must be off pavement. Your pick where you do the miles. I hope you’ll be able to get into some of the spectacular wooded trails for at least some of the miles, but it is totally acceptable for you to run – or hike or walk – on the grass of a sports field or next to any sidewalk, next to the pavement at UTBT or next to the Flatwoods loop. The berm at Flatwoods is a good option as well. Any beach will work. I hope many people will utilize the trails at Flatwoods, Trout Creek, Hole in the Fence, Lake Rogers Park, Alafia State Park, Croom (Withlacoochee State Forest), etc.
The main purpose of the last challenge was to get people to add biking for cross training. The main purpose of this challenge is to get people into the woods, spending time with Mother Nature, discovering new running – or walking – locations, but I understand that finding a wooded trail in some parts of the City may not be easy; therefore, grass is a perfectly acceptable option.
I also want to encourage you to cross train in a pool or in the gulf, but since getting to a pool or the beach is even more of a challenge, I’m making the swimming – or aqua jogging – portion optional. To get extra credit, you must swim or aqua-jog 5 hours during August. This will be recorded, by you, in minutes on the spreadsheet. As a reward, you will get a gold star next to your name in the results and you will get a fish charm hanging from the bottom of your medal.
