Coach Deb Voiles, founder of Run Tampa, coaches at Al Lopez Park three nights a week at 6 p.m. The coaching group is appropriate for all levels and includes training in form, endurance, and speed. Tuesday and Thursday nights are distinct from Wednesday nights. On those nights Deb provides a specific workout for each group. All groups begin with a warm-up, then each group's workout is specific to that group. Wednesdays are set aside as days when the group meets at the park just to run together, just to get in an easy, midweek recovery run. Everyone goes their own pace and goes the distance prescribed by their individual training schedule.
The Become a Runner Group is comprised of people who are not runners but who aspire to be.
The Beginner Group is for runners who are still mainly concerned with building endurance but who also need work on form and fundamentals.
Experienced/veteran runners work more on speed appropriate to each runner's goal race; however, this groups still performs drills on a daily basis. Each week's workouts are divided between tempo work (longer distances) and shorter speed work, intervals and repeats.
Half Marathon Training: People training for half marathons and marathons train in the veteran runner group
